The IRN-BRU Carnival is an annual indoor funfair taking place at the SEC Glasgow. This year Carnival runs from 20th December 2024 - 12th January 2025.
We strongly encourage visitors to book their tickets in advance to ensure entry to the Carnival is as quick as possible. There will be a limited number of tickets available to purchase on the day, however, these are subject to availability, so we advise pre-booking to guarantee your ticket.
All tickets include entry and 10 vouchers per person which can be used on rides, most stalls and inflatable play. Additional vouchers can be purchased online and at the Carnival for £2 each or 5 for £8.
If you are purchasing a Concession (60+) ticket, you must bring a valid bus pass or other form of valid age ID. If you are purchasing a Young Scot Card discounted ticket, you must present your Young Scot Card on entry with your ticket. Failure to provide proof that you qualify for these offers may result in you being refused entry to the Carnival or being asked to pay for a full price ticket. Please note that the unbranded Saltire / NEC card is NOT accepted for the Young Scot discount - your card must be Young Scot branded.
There are no age limits throughout the IRN-BRU Carnival however, if you are 12 or under you must be accompanied by a responsible adult (aged 16 or above) at all times.
Peak ticket prices are in operation on 2-4 January.
You can swap your dates up to the day of your visit (but not after), and if your new tickets are more expensive than the ones you originally booked, you will need to pay the difference to complete the swap.
Please see the Ticket Prices page for further info and prices.
If you have questions about tickets, or you have already booked, please visit See Tickets Customer Service.
There are no age limits throughout the IRN-BRU Carnival however, if you are 12 or under you must be accompanied by a responsible adult (aged 16 or above) at all times.
The IRN-BRU Carnival has taken a number of measures to make sure that as many people as possible can enjoy their day out at the Carnival. However, please be aware that while we have made a great effort to provide facilities to accommodate as many access requirements as possible, there will inevitably be some areas and rides which still present a challenge for some.
Take a look at our Accessibility Guide which details measures including Carer tickets, Ride Access Passes and wheelchair hire, and if you have a question that is not answered by this guide, then please contact [email protected] and we'll do our best to help.
Autism Friendly sessions for 2024/25 Carnival will take place from 11am-2pm on Tuesday 31 December, and from 4pm-9pm on Monday 6 January, offering visitors with autism and sensory processing differences the chance to enjoy the rides and to get used to their environment.
Some of the rides will be slower, flashing lights where possible are turned off (please note some rides are unable to adjust the speed & lighting settings on their machines). Music will be off or turned down low, and numbers will be capped so that there are less crowds, however these sessions can still be popular. There will also be quiet areas available. The venue can provide sensory packs on a first come, first served basis, please see their website for information.
At the end of each Autism Friendly session, the music and lights will gradually return to their usual levels. Visitors to the Autism Friendly sessions are welcome to stay at the Carnival until it closes if they wish.
We hope that these measures help as many people as possible to enjoy the IRN-BRU Carnival.
Baby changing facilities are available inside the Carnival and can be found in the Inflatable Play area – please note you will not need to use any vouchers to enter the Inflatable Play area to use the baby changing facilities.
There are also three further baby changing rooms accessible from the SEC's main concourse; two are on the main concourse adjacent to the central ladies’ toilets and the other is at the west end of the venue next to the west entrance.
Bingo will only start when enough people are sitting ready to play. Please check the signs at the ticket desks for information on when the bingo will start each day. The cost is £13 for 7 games, and you can purchase bingo tickets at the ticket office on arrival.
On the main concourse of the SEC, there is a free of charge ATM, next to the SEC Box Office. In addition, there is another ATM located next to Morrisons Daily, however, this does charge an administration fee for some services.

The Carnival offers a Ride Access Pass to guests who are unable to stand in queues due to a disability. The pass is available in addition to paying for standard entry and can be used by eligible guests and one companion to access the ride via the exit barrier. This access is intended to provide a reduced waiting time compared to the standard queue line, although queues can still form on busy days. To keep the waiting time as short as possible, only one companion pass is available per eligible visitor.
The eligible guest and their companion will receive different Ride Access Passes, with the companion's pass clearly marked – companions can only use their pass when accompanying the eligible guest.
Please note: the Ride Access Pass system does not operate at our Autism Friendly sessions.
To ensure the system remains beneficial to those who rely on it, the Organiser reserves the right to check a person's eligibility as defined by the Equality Act.
Please note that the accepted documents for a Ride Access Pass are different from those for a Carer ticket. These include:
- A current Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance award letter showing that you receive the medium or higher rate mobility component .
- A current Personal Independence Payment letter showing that you receive enhanced mobility component or equivalent documentation from the Adult Disability Payment.
- A current and valid Blue Badge.
- A current and valid CredAbility Access Card with the queueing icon on it.
- A letter from your GP or consultant, or a professional body (e.g. a Nurse or a BUPA Healthcare Advisor) on header paper (dated within the last 24 months) which clearly states that you are unable to queue and why. Please note we do not need a letter of diagnosis.
The IRN-BRU Carnival will not tolerate any guest displaying any sign or visible representation of any kind which is, or could be reasonably judged to be, threatening, abusive or insulting in relation to the Ride Access Pass system. The IRN-BRU Carnival reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to revoke the Ride Access Pass, or remove guests from the event if any behaviour occurs that may affect the enjoyment and/or safety of the IRN-BRU Carnival team and its guests.
We have a large selection of rides suitable for all ages. All rides operate a height restriction for safety purposes and will be published in advance for your information.
In some cases, due to build or size, the ride may be deemed unsuitable for individuals due to the restraints, locking mechanisms etc. The operator’s decision is final in this instance.
Please note, in exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to close a ride without advance warning. The IRN-BRU Carnival apologises for any inconvenience caused.
